Sorrento Cheese sponsors the oldest continuous Italian festival in Boston, the Annual Fisherman’s Feast, with a goal to influence its perception among the Italian-American and Greater Boston community as a “genuine Italian cheese.” Media exposure and branding strategy are essential in achieving this marketing goal.
Harron & Associates has devised various promotions and activities to interest local media, attract new visitors to the feast, and portray Sorrento Cheese as a community-focused corporate citizen. The firm created a “celebrity cheese building contest” sponsored by Sorrento Cheese that attracts local Italian-American sports and media personalities to the opening night of the feast. The winner of the contest chooses a charity to benefit from the prize money. This promotion, combined with other efforts, receives broad coverage of the three-day event from major newspapers, television outlets, radio stations, and magazines, and projects a positive image of Sorrento Cheese to the market they value most.
