The 12 yachts of the BT Global Challenge, the world's toughest yacht race, resumed their round-the-world contest under sunny October skies in full view of the Boston Skyline. Their arrival two weeks earlier set off a flurry of events spotlighting race sponsor British Telecommunications and its relationship with area businesses and universities. A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated the opening of the BT Disruptive Laboratory, the latest addition to the MIT Media Laboratory. Harron & Associates led the race's public relations and marketing efforts in the US.
